The Estes Park Internet Computer User Group will meet Wednesday, February 15 at 7:00 PM in the Hondius Room at the Estes Valley Public Library.  This month we will have a discussion on Wireless Networking and Wireless Printing, including demonstrations on how to setup a router, how to configure for security, and the easiest way to connect a wireless printer to your system.  Yes, a live printing demo!  Bring your thoughts and questions, even your router if you want, and join us at the Library.  All EPICUG meetings are free and open to the public.

At this month’s Mac User Group Meeting we are going to discuss a variety of news items and topics…

• First, EPICUG is now (finally) officially recognized by Apple! What does this mean for our club?

• Apple made three Education Announcements. Are they going to save our schools with low-cost text books, or are they making a bid to take over publishing?

• Apple, which has had steadily increasing profits for years, had a dramatic increase in profits last quarter. Can they keep up the relentless growth? Is growth actually good for Mac users?

• MacWorld Expo occurred last week. This was the second annual MacWorld without Apple in attendance. It was also the first annual “iWorld.” Was there anything interesting there for Macs or was it monopolized by iThings?

• Lastly, we will have time for open discussion. Bring your own topic.

Please join us Monday, February 6 at 7:00 PM in the Hondius Room at the Estes Valley Library. As with all EPICUG events, this meeting is free and open to the public.

The Digital Imaging Special Interest Group (DISIG) will be meeting in the Hondius Room at the Estes Valley Public Library this Tuesday, January 24 at 7:00 pm.  The meeting will be a continuation of the Lynda.com presentation on High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography started at the October meeting.  HDR is a method of increasing the range of light and dark in a photograph, avoiding glare while maintaing details in shadows.  This method of photography is only feasible as a result of digital imaging.  If you missed the first half of this presentation, don’t hesitate to attend this continuation; time will be dedicated for review.  If you have examples of HDR photographs, please bring them to share with the group.  All EPICUG meetings and presentations are free and open to the public.  Please join us Tuesday evening in the Hondius Room.

Wednesday, January 18, at 7:00 PM in the Hondius Room at the Estes Valley Public Library, EPICUG will hold it’s 2012 Planning Meeting.  The Board will meet early at 6:00 and at 7:00 the meeting will be open to the membership and public.  Bring your ideas for programs and activities for this year.

Oh, and, as time allows, we might also discuss CES!

Due to a scheduling conflict at the Library.  The Mac User Group will not be meeting this Monday January 2.  Instead we will be meeting Tuesday January 10.  More info coming soon.

The general/PC EPICUG meeting will be on its normally schedule date, Wednesday January 18.

The Digital Imaging Group’s meeting will also be shifted this month and in February too to accommodate the availability of the Hondius Room.  It will be two days ahead of normal Tuesday January 24, and Tuesday February 21.

Starting in March, our meetings will follow the regular first Monday, third Wednesday, and fourth Thursday schedule.

EPICUG will hold it’s annual Christmas Party Wednesday December 14 in the Hondius Room at the Estes Valley Public Library.  The party will begin one hour earlier than our regular meetings, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.  Food and refreshments will be provided.  Come join us for a fun-filled evening.  Bring a URL for the FIT (Funniest Internet Thing) Contest and also a White Elephant Tech Gift for exchange.  This year there will be one business item at the party, EPICUG members will elect 2012 Officers.  Please join us in the Hondius Room at 6:00 and Merry Christmas!
